Freedom Woods has been family owned for the last eighteen years and we pride ourselves on continually updating the facility to offer our clientele and horses the best quality care.

We are conveniently located just minutes from downtown Chicago and the North Shore. We are located next to the Cook County Forest Preserve, allowing us to offer a country feel in the suburbs.

The original structure of the stable was built in the 1930s and in the early 2000s a second barn was built on the property to accommodate the growing therapeutic riding program and the beginner riding program.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

The environment is a growing concern all around the world. At Freedom Woods in the last three years we have made many changes to help reduce our carbon footprint. All of the lighting has been changed from fluorescent light bulbs to more efficient ecosmart lights. We have developed a new water storage system to reuse rain water to water the arenas. The majority of our horses are bedded on straw instead of shavings to reduce the amount of carbon emissions from the disposal of manure.

Recent Improvements:

- In June of 2014 we finished renovating the last group of stalls left from the original facility.

- In August of 2014 we purchased and installed commercial grade washers and dryers for your horse laundry needs!

 Upcoming Improvements:

- We are in the process of putting a new roof on the entire facility, it should be complete by November of this year.

- By the summer of 2015, our outdoor bank should be complete! This will help our riders prepare for larger horse shows and hunter derbies! In addition we will be working on more esthetics of the outdoor ring, planting hedges around the rail and refurbishing the judges box.

- By 2016 we hope to open Freedom Woods North! We are working on building barns and pastures at our other location in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. One of the plus's of Freedom Woods is our location, the only downside to that is we lack lush pastures and large amounts of turnout. Freedom Woods North will function both as a retirement facility and just a little place for your horse to have some time off after show season or for whatever reason! Staff will live on property to care for your horses' every need. Keep posted for more updates on our second facility!
